架棍 — place a stick across your upper back while skating to lock shoulders, fix arm-flailing, and isolate hip/ankle turning.
Setup
- Find a sturdy stick (broom handle, steel pipe, selfie stick — something that won't snap)
- Rest it across your upper back / shoulder blades
- Don't clamp it tight — just lightly hold it in place so it doesn't fall
- Adjust height: higher = tighter lock, lower = more freedom
What it trains
Shoulder balance (肩部平衡)
- Both shoulders forced into a level, stable plane
- Stick shifts visibly if one shoulder drops → instant feedback
- Long-term: builds muscle memory for even shoulders without the stick
Arm control (摆臂控制)
- Arms are locked with the stick — can't flail
- Eliminates the "手舞足蹈" (dancing hands) problem
- Straight-line moves stop having the jittery arm-pumping artifact
Hip and ankle isolation
- With upper body completely locked, the only way to turn is through hips, waist, and ankles
- Forces development of these under-trained turning points
- Most skaters over-rely on shoulder rotation for turning — this strips that away
Trade-off
- Upper body is completely locked — can't use shoulder-led force for rotation moves
- Body-roll class moves (like total_cross) become impossible
- Feels stiff and limiting — that's the point
- Think of it as isolation training, not performance practice
Best used for
- Basic moves where feet do the work: 双鱼, snakes, Crazy, scissors
- Diagnosing whether your turns rely too much on shoulder rotation
- Condition-based free practice (条件自由练习): skate normally but with the constraint of locked shoulders
